This Privacy Policy describes how FinanceMyself LLC ("FinanceMyself", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit financemyself.com, subscribe to our emails, contact us, or otherwise interact with our website (collectively, the "Site").

By using the Site, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Who we are

FinanceMyself LLC operates FinanceMyself, an education-first personal finance website based in the United States. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at info@financemyself.com.

Information we collect

We collect information in three broad ways: information you give us, information collected automatically when you use the Site, and information from third parties when you follow links to their services.

Information you provide

  • Newsletter subscription: your email address when you sign up for the Beginner Money Checklist and email tips. We use your email to send educational content you requested.
  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject (optional), and message when you reach out through our Contact page.
  • Corrections and feedback: any information you choose to include in emails or messages to us.

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, or other sensitive financial credentials through the Site.

Information collected automatically

When you visit or interact with the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information (such as browser type, operating system, and screen size)
  • Network and connection data (such as IP address and approximate location derived from IP)
  • Usage data (such as pages viewed, links clicked, time spent, referring URL, and timestamps)
  • Cookie, pixel, and similar identifier data (described below)
  • Standard server log data maintained by our hosting infrastructure

Calculator inputs

Our financial calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers and assumptions you enter are processed locally on your device and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Information from affiliate and advertising partners

When you click an affiliate or advertiser link and leave the Site, the third party may collect information about you under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your financial account details through those links. See Affiliate Disclosure and Advertiser Disclosure.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and its content
  • Send the Beginner Money Checklist, money tips, and other emails you have requested or consented to receive
  • Respond to your inquiries, corrections, and support requests
  • Measure traffic, engagement, and the performance of pages and features
  • Display advertising that helps fund free access to our guides and calculators
  • Understand which content is useful and detect abuse, spam, or technical problems
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect our rights and users

Legal bases (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data on these legal bases:

  • Consent — for optional cookies, personalized advertising where required, and marketing emails

When you first visit the Site, we show a cookie banner so you can accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies. You can reopen your choices anytime via Cookie settings in the footer. We use Google Consent Mode so analytics and advertising tags respect your selections.

If we serve personalized ads to visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, non-essential advertising cookies are set only after you grant advertising consent.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 ("GA4"), a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use the Site. GA4 may collect information such as pages viewed, interactions, approximate location, device/browser type, and a pseudonymous identifier. Google processes this data on our behalf.

Advertising and third-party vendors

We display ads from third-party advertising networks to help fund the Site. Our primary ad partner is Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites
  • Measure ad performance and prevent fraud
  • Limit how often you see the same ad

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.

Your advertising choices:

Ad areas on the Site are labeled "Advertisement." We configure ad placements to avoid misleading layouts and to keep ads away from interactive calculator controls, in line with Google AdSense program policies.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links on the Site are affiliate links. When you click them, you may be taken to a partner site (such as a bank, lender, tax software provider, or budgeting app) that sets its own cookies or tracking identifiers so the partner or its affiliate network (for example, Impact, CJ Affiliate, or FlexOffers) can attribute a referral to us.

We do not receive your sensitive financial account information through these links. Partner privacy practices are governed by their own policies. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Email communications

If you subscribe to our email list:

  • We send a confirmation email before adding you to the list (double opt-in).
  • We use your email address only to send the newsletter and related service messages unless you separately consent to more.
  • Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also email info@financemyself.com to opt out.

We do not sell or rent our email list to third parties for their own marketing.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information in these situations:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site — such as hosting, analytics, advertising, email delivery, and form-processing providers — under contracts that limit their use of the data
  • Affiliate and advertising partners when you interact with their links or ads, as described above
  • Legal and safety when required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or security
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Privacy Policy

Under some US state privacy laws, allowing certain third-party advertising or analytics cookies may be considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising" even when no money changes hands. See the California section below for opt-out rights.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to:

To make a request, email info@financemyself.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and tell us what you are asking for. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We aim to respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

You may authorize an agent to submit a request on your behalf where permitted by law.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

California law gives residents specific rights over personal information. In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information for the business purposes described in this policy:

  • Identifiers — such as name, email address, IP address, and online identifiers
  • Internet or network activity — such as browsing history on the Site and interactions with pages and ads
  • Geolocation data — approximate location derived from IP address
  • Inferences — such as general content or ad interests drawn from usage data

We collect these categories from you directly, automatically through cookies and logs, and from analytics/advertising tools. We disclose them to service providers, advertising partners, and affiliate networks as described above.

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We may "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through advertising cookies and similar technologies. California residents may opt out by:

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age without affirmative authorization where required.

California residents may also request disclosure of categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, request deletion, and request correction of inaccurate information using the contact methods above.

EEA, UK, and other regions

If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with data-protection laws, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. For example:

  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address
  • Contact messages: long enough to respond and maintain a reasonable record of correspondence
  • Server logs and analytics: typically for a limited rolling period, unless needed for security or legal reasons
  • Cookie data: for the duration set by each cookie or until you delete it

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact info@financemyself.com and we will take steps to delete it.

International visitors

FinanceMyself is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Automated decision-making

We do not use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

The Site contains links to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be noted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
